Usually in July, I take my annual sabbatical but I’ve decided to change things up for this summer which means I’ll be around at Cross Point a lot. This past Sunday was my first time preaching in July in years. We kicked off a new series called Your Best Summer Ever and we focused on:

Matthew 1:17 ┬áCome, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”

Understanding this scripture had a monumental impact and I wanted to share a quick word with you about it.

If you ever take stock of the things you pray about, you’ll probably realize that most of it is temporal.

We pray about Relationships, Money, Jobs, What to Buy, etc.

And don’t get me wrong. All of that is important but it’s temporal. On it’s own, it doesn’t really have eternal value. But how you use it, now that’s where it all changes.

I pray that we can all get to a place where we realize that God can take all of the temporal stuff, and shape it in a way where you are perfectly positioned in someone else’s life to have an impact.

To bring eternal value.

To be a fisher of men.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a college student trying to decide what your major should be, what kind of car you should buy, where you live, how much debt you’re in, or what your job is. God can use each of us, and use all of our circumstances, powerfully in someone else’s life because followers will eventually fish if they are really followers.

Here is a really short recap video from Sunday. I hope this helpful to you.
